I was notified this morning by Anne (Owens) Jenkins of Raleigh, NC about the death of Nate Williams. Nate was a great friend over the years.
I met him first in Queens when Dr. Hoeh and I did a Bible Study there in January 1969. Then he moved to Minneapolis — and I was assigned there as an elder as well at the time.
We became friends and played racquetball about twice a week at Macalester College in the early AM. Some of our partners were Minnesota Vikings football players who were notoriously bad racquet ball players. They were rough.
A high was when Nate worked for a Black Community Advancement Group in Minneapolis and the head of the NAACP came to Minneapolis. Nate asked that along with him, we pick him up at the airport and take him to his hotel. This is when Herbert Armstrong was still living. This man was his way to Los Angeles afterward and expressed interest in seeing Ambassador College, but it didn’t materialize. He was well-aware of Herbert Armstrong.

Hey Everyone:I just wanted to let everyone know that Nate Williams died this morning at 4:00 a.m. I got the call and our minister Craig Scott got the call during church so he was able to make the announcement during church. Everyone was saddened by the announcement and after church most people talked about Nate. There will not be a memorial or funeral service as he did not want that.I just wanted to let everyone know.Have a good weekend.
We love you, Nate!!
See you in the Kingdom!!
